6 March 2025 by ISL Weekly Newsletter
From 16:00, on Friday 7 March, you will be able to make primary school Parent/Teacher conferences and secondary school learning reviews' appointments via the Parent Portal. These meetings are an opportunity for you and teachers to discuss the progress of your children. They take place remotely using Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 18 March. There is no school for students that day.
Parent/ Teacher conferences in the Primary School
The conferences are scheduled for 13 minutes with homeroom teachers, and for shorter periods with specialist teachers. During the meeting, you can expect a brief update on your child’s progress thus far in the school year. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your child’s development and progress.
Dual language French teachers support two different classes, so will attend the meetings that they deem most appropriate. Due to scheduling conflicts, they are unable to attend meetings with every family in the two classes they teach. If you think it is important that you speak with both of the teachers of the Dual Language class at the same time, please reach out to let them know your wishes and they will do their best to accommodate you.
Learning Reviews in the Secondary School
A complete guide to secondary school learning reviews can be found here.
Appointments are five minutes. You may wish to leave a five-minute gap between each one. You do not need to make appointments with all of your children's teachers. Whilst this is useful in some cases, such as for new students, we recommend you select subjects where you feel feedback would be particularly valuable. A targeted approach helps reduce meetings and allows more parents to meet with their children’s teachers on this day.
Most teachers have sufficient slots to meet with their students and families. Sometimes, you may find a teacher has no remaining available slots. In this case, you should email the teacher directly to find a time outside the day for a 5-minute Microsoft Teams virtual conversation.
Using Microsoft Teams
A technical tip is to download Microsoft Teams before the day rather than accessing the links via a web link and browser. While this is possible, there are fewer technical issues when using the programme.
